
Honey-Soy Barbecue Spare Ribs

2 racks pork side ribs(about 4 lb/2 kg), cut into 1-bone portions
1 onion, quartered
5 cloves garlic, minced, divided
2 tbsp minced fresh ginger, divided
1 tbsp Chinese 5-spice powder
1 tsp salt
½ cup honey
¼ cup lime juice
¼ cup soy sauce
2 tbsp finely chopped fresh cilantro
1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds

Directions
1Bring large pot of water (just enough water to cover ribs) to a boil. Add ribs, onion, 3 minced cloves garlic and 1 tbsp (15 mL) ginger. Reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer 1 hr. 30 min. until very tender. Let ribs cool 15 min. in the cooking water. Drain (discard onion pieces) and season with Chinese 5-spice powder and salt. Set aside.
2In bowl, whisk together honey, lime juice, soy sauce, remaining garlic and ginger.
3Preheat grill to high heat. Place ribs on grill; reduce heat to medium. Brush frequently with honey-soy glaze. Cook about 10 min., turning often, until glaze is sticky. Transfer ribs to platter. Sprinkle with cilantro and sesame seeds to serve.

These ribs could also serve 4 as a main dish.
