
Espresso Martini with Homemade Irish Cream

½ cup whole milk
1 tsp cocoa powder
½ tsp instant coffee powder
½ cup sweetened condensed milk
⅓ cup whisky
½ tsp vanilla extract
½ cup espresso, chilled
2 tbsp vodka
½ cup 35% whipping cream, whipped to soft peaks (optional)
black licorice pieces and 4 dried cranberries for garnish (optional)

2 tbsp vodka

Directions
1In large bowl, make Irish cream by whisking together milk, cocoa powder and instant coffee until dissolved. Then whisk in sweetened condensed milk, whisky and vanilla extract. Pour mixture into jar or jug with tight-fitting lid; keep chilled.
2Fill cocktail shaker two-thirds full with ice. Add Irish cream, espresso and vodka; shake well. Pour into 4 martini glasses and top with whipped cream, if desired.
3For reindeer garnish, slice black licorice pieces into 8 rounds for “eyes” and 8 pieces 1-in. (2.5-cm) long for “ears”. Lay 2 ears and 2 eyes onto each whipped cream layer. Drop a cranberry in the centre of each glass for the “nose”.

Substitute equal amount of strong coffee for espresso.
