Chocolate Chip Cookies for Two

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, room temperature 30 mL
  • 2 tbsp firmly packed brown sugar 30 mL
  • 1 tbsp sugar 15 mL
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract 1 mL
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour 75 mL
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda 1 mL
  • pinch salt
  • 1 oz chopped bittersweet chocolate or scant 1/4 cup (60 mL) semi-sweet chocolate chips 30 g
  • 1 tbsp chopped walnuts (optional) 15 mL

Directions

  • Step 1

    Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). In bowl, cream together butter, both sugars, egg yolk and vanilla until smooth.

  • Step 2

    Stir in flour, baking soda and salt until just combined. Mix in chocolate and walnuts (if using).

  • Step 3

    Drop 4 equal mounds dough on parchment paper-lined baking sheet, about 2 in. (5 cm apart). Bake 12 min., or until golden.

  • Step 4

    Cool on baking sheet 2 min. then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.

Tip

Substitute pecans for walnuts.
