Largely grown in the Mediterranean, the delicate texture and sweet flavour of figs make them an indulgent treat. For a simple appetizer, top fresh fig halves with a dollop of goat cheese and sprinkle with chopped walnuts. Figs stewed in orange juice and honey also taste great served over cheesecake, pancakes and waffles.

Once brought home, fresh figs — especially if ripe — should be consumed as soon as possible. Purchase figs that feel heavy, are blemish-free and tender to the touch.
