Recipe Ingredients

1 pkg. yellow cake mix 510 g
1 cup water 250 mL
2 large ripe bananas, mashed
3 eggs
1/2 cup butter 125 mL
4 cups icing sugar 1 L
2 tsp vanilla extract 10 mL
3 tbsp milk (approx.) 45 mL
 

Recipe Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Lightly coat a 13 x 9-inch (3 L) cake pan with cooking spray.
  2. Stir the cake mix with the water, bananas and eggs until combined; spoon mixture into the prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Cool completely.
  3. Heat the butter, stirring constantly, in a small saucepan set over medium heat for 4 to 6 minutes or until butter begins to foam and turn brown. Cool slightly.
  4. Beat the butter with the sugar, vanilla and milk using a hand mixer on low speed until frosting is smooth, adding more milk if necessary. Spread frosting over cake.
